The Gift of a New Year

As we travel through a new year let us not allow ourselves to fall prey to the hate that has engulfed the past. You see, hate is like a great plague that spreads so easily among people that they find themselves afflicted before they even realize it and some never come to that realization.

Nonetheless it spreads across society like a wild fire consuming everything in its path, but this plague of hate has a cure! The cure is gained through the mind, we must be mindful to not allow ourselves to hate! “Be angry and sin not”

Ephesians 4:26-29 says.

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members of one another.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers

This is easier said than done but it must be done! No one loves a hate filled person. I gave a message in Church once and said that in order to be loved you must be lovable! (Does that make sense?)

If I try to be lovable by showing love to others then I will be loved back the majority of the time!

Believe me I see all the ugly in this world but I cannot allow myself to become hate filled like so many others have fallen prey to.

Remember the phrase (“hate the sin and love the sinner?) I can show love to anyone, but I have every right to judge sin! This doesn’t mean I should approach them with condemnation, what it does mean is that I should take the issue in prayer to the Throne of our Creator in prayer. We should all be praying without ceasing! God said,

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people which are called by my name ,shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,And turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from Heaven ,and will forgive their sin,and will heal their land”

We have seen a great hate for the past several years fill our world, It has infected young and old, the educated and the ignorant, the wise and the secular, and the believers and the condemned!

Let’s not allow this any longer! We should set our minds on being lovable and showing compassion!

I saw a meme a few days ago that showed a group of people standing around a corner with a long pole apprehensively beginning to open a door marked New Year. I say we pray then put on the armor of God and kick that door wide open and walk boldly into this new year we have been given.

May we never forget who we serve, and take all of our troubles and worries to the Savior in prayer!

Ye shall not fear them; for the Lord your God shall fight for you! Deuteronomy 3:22

I wish you all great blessings in the coming year, may it be a year of awakening and prayer!
