Teaching Unity to a Broken Home

Look around and if you have eyes to see, then you will know that what we speak of as the Church today is a Broken Home.

We all know broken homes; divorce has become so common we don’t even blink at its mention. Children are raised passed from one parent to another, destroying the security and comfort deserved by all children.

Men and women give little to no thought of ending a marriage, seldom stopping to consider the needs of their children. Yes, they will show at least some thought of care for a child or children, but there is no concern of the foundational requirement for a child to grow in a strong and balanced environment—an environment with both a Mother and Father.

Parents get divorced, and all too often they begin to teach to their children hatred towards the other parent, never understanding that in reality they are pouring out on the child the hatred of their own failure. (Accepting responsibility is extremely uncommon in today’s society.) Because of broken homes, children grow up confused.

There is no solid rock to stand on, no firm foundation to base life upon, so they wander in search of something true and honest. Life becomes like being afloat in the ocean, desperately seeking a lifeboat but there is none to be found.

Why do I go into such detail of the family when this writing is about the Church? The Family, the true family the way God intended the family to be, are the building blocks of the Church! Jesus Christ is the foundation and the Preacher is the Messenger to the Church.

Sadly this has become in disarray. The Church that Christ established on the understanding that He, and He alone, is the Son of the Living God has become rare indeed.

The understanding Simon Peter had was the foundation of the Church, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” That and that alone is the true Church!

Today we find places called churches built upon the sand of half-true doctrines based upon a very few Scriptures other than the words of Simon Peter.

The true Church was built upon a rock! Remember what Jesus said? “Blessed art thou, Simon son of Jonah: for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father in Heaven. …on this Rock I will build my Church; and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.”

Is that not proof enough of what the true Church is? If you have read my writings titled ”Church?” and “Are these the days of Noah?”, then you will gain a deeper understanding of what I am teaching here.

This writing may cause many to pause, and may even anger some, but this teaching is based upon understanding the truth of the Word.

Preachers!

Christians, do you realize that Jesus never called a man to be a Pastor? Nope, never in all the Bible did Jesus call any man to be a pastor. As I wrote in the “Church?” teaching, the word “pastor“ concerning the church was first seen in the 3rd century AD and was derived from a French word “pasture” meaning shepherd or herdsman.

Can you think of any Scripture where Christ called a man to be a shepherd? Now a warning: be careful not to twist words or confuse Scripture to satisfy desired tradition here. The example of the first Preachers were the Apostles; did Christ tell any of them to tend the flock?

The answer is a resounding NO! Christ directed men to be messengers, not flock tenders. Christ said go and make disciples of the nations. Paul, when addressing the Church at Corinth said, “I care to know nothing of you.” Does that sound like the words of a pastor, a herdsman or the words of a messenger?

In the first few chapters of the Book of Revelation, the Preacher is clearly spoken of as the messenger—the Angel of the Church! In fact, the Preacher was held separate from the Church.

The seven lamp stands represented the seven churches of Asia and in the Revelation, Christ spoke to John. Christ held in his right hand seven stars which represented the angels, or messengers, to the seven Churches. The messengers were separate from the Church.

Again this is evident when Christ told John to write a letter to the Angel of the Church at the spoken location, for example “To the Angel of the Church at Pergamos write…” This shows a clear separation of the messenger from the Church itself.

The directive was a duty given TO the Preacher OF the Church AT a location and not to a denomination! The letters given to the seven Churches were to be delivered as observations of the Lord by the Angel/messenger that Christ held in His right hand.

Another revelation to be gained from this portion of the book of Revelation is the focus of the right hand. The right hand is a place of reverence; a place to be respected and honored! The Scripture teaches that Christ sits at the right hand of God, clearly indicating the importance of the right hand!

So many people today believe the Preacher is to be the caretaker rather than the Messenger, when it is the duty of the Deaconship to be the caretakers. The duty of the Preacher is to deliver the message given by the Lord God through his studies, prayers, and contemplation time, and we MUST ensure our Preachers have that time!

I hope that I have shown that just as in the Garden, Satan has beguiled man into believing untruths, causing confusion and outright deception of what was meant to be.

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10
