A Calm Walk

I wish to ask you, my dear Christian Brothers and Sisters -from the Pastors, Teachers, Missionaries, Evangelicals, and Churchgoers- to give this writing some deep contemplation.

If our Lord Jesus were to suddenly appear to you and ask you to, “Come, child, and walk with me”, what would your conversation be like?

Would you ask Him how He could love you so very much as to deliver you from your atrocities of sin? Every conversation would be different—the Pastor’s different from the Teacher’s, the Teacher’ different from the Missionary’s, the Missionary’s different from the Evangelist’s, and the Evangelist’s different from the churchgoers.

I’m sure we would all have questions about our salvation, but the general topics would be vastly different. From your current relationship with the Lord would your speech be continued praise or would you ask for the teaching of the Lord? What would you ask?

Would you ask why some of the answers to your prayers were No? Would you ask how you could be a better servant in certain areas or for wisdom? Perhaps you would ask how to be more obedient in the Word and show more compassion at the same time, or how it is possible for a man to hate the sins of a person and love them at the same time.

Many in Jesus’ time addressed Him as Rabbi (Teacher). Would you seek His teaching? Surely this time would be the most wonderful time of your existence. How would you use it? Would you ask about heaven, or ask what an angel looks like?

Maybe you would ask what your job in Heaven will be, or where you need to grow the most in your Christian walk. Contemplate taking this walk with the Lord. Personally, I think I would be like a young child—asking a lot of questions and never wanting this time to end.

As saved Christians, do you realize that this time does not have to end? In the upper room, Jesus told His disciples that He was going to send a helper—the Holy Spirit.

Through the Holy Spirit and the Word of God we have the opportunity to walk through our lives as if we are walking side by side with our Lord. How can I say this? Because I have a promise in the Word!

Matthew 7:7-8 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

We have all we need as saved Christians, but we must strive to be in the place where we may receive it. Sadly, like a young hound we will run after every distraction, straying from our path and then struggle to get back on track. In 2 Timothy, Paul said he had stayed the course and fought the good fight.

This is the example we must maintain our focus on. The Scripture tells us that the path is hard and the gate narrow that leads to Heaven (even as I have been writing this there have been many attempted distractions).

None of us are immune to the efforts of the adversary to distract us from our path, but as Paul said, we must stay the course and fight the good fight!

If we as Christians seek the presence of the Lord, we will find it!

Remember this teaching, Pastor and Teacher, Churchgoer and Evangelist, and Missionary—we must all serve the Lord in our walk and His presence is only a prayer away!
