A Bright Night

The moon shone radiant upon the land. Shadows of leafless trees cast across the ground

My thoughts wandered at the majesty I observed turning toward heaven

That all I saw was only there by the work of God’s Divine creative hand

The air still and quiet; a peace difficult to comprehend.

The presence of the Creator thick, I began to understand

This is a gift, I realized in the moment. A blessing from above to cherish in my heart In my spirit, I pled this time would never end

Snow glowed and twinkled in patches, through the sparseness of the woods

Like treasures to be found, in my longing for something good.

This world has become corrupt and ugly in it’s hate;

Only time stood between now and the destruction of its fate. But peace tonight, the Lord’s good will abounds; My heart lingered in the sight and in the absence of all sounds.

Quiet in my mind, I was able to hear and see. This time, this gift, this blessing, that my Lord had given me.

I let my thoughts revel in the grandeur of His grace, Roaming through the stillness and peace I witnessed in this place I began to feel the teardrops running down my face

Oh what Love my Lord has, for this old rough and haggard heart Alas, know He’s known me, from the very start.

This night was made in heaven, before I was even born;

Waiting for this time to bless and lift me, setting it apart

I lift my voice to heaven and my heart began to sing;

The silence parted slightly when a chime gave a single ring.

Perhaps it was an Angel ministering to me, or the presence of Lord Himself

        causing my heart to sing

Hearing my prayer in praise, crying from my soul

Perhaps it was a sign relieving this world’s heavy toll.

Serving my Lord with all that I am; this my only goal

If you find your life in a time that is as grand and true

Never let your heart forget, that gift was meant for you

“The joys of Heaven—will surely compensate for the sorrows of earth”
