A Winter's Day

A Winter’s day so cold and dreary as I pondered, so weak and weary.

Sitting there with Bible open; Reading words so clearly spoken.

Written in a time ago, for today to soothe my soul.

My mind, as if an empty bowl reading of the rights and wrongs; Searching for God’s light is so strong.

This world I find so hard to bear; My heart is so sad with strife and care.

I lay face down upon the floor and prayed as I had never spoken before.

A light began to shine around my body is prone upon the ground.

A light as was the bright of day; In prayer did my body lay.

I rose and found my armor set; I put it on without regret.

I will not stand in the valley, But run through it, as I rally.

I gazed into the world, a new; God’s creation is sweet as dew.

I will fight as Paul once said; Staying course with Faith instead.

I battle not with flesh and blood; But with great evil up above.

Princes and servants in devil’s charge; They roam around still at large.

I slay one, and then one more, But just as many as before.

My sword is sharp and shield so strong; I have found where I belong.

My spirit seemed to grow so large; Endeavoring to do what God did charge.

I’ll fight this fight and stay the course; Faith held fast with no remorse.

And when I die, I’ll fly away, Then live and pray another day.

To: the Lord my God
