Prayer (Part 2)
I have come to realize that there are so many things we either don’t know or don’t understand, the power and workings of prayer being one of those.
I have often said, and even included as a tagline in my emails, that we should not tell God how big our storms are, but tell the storms how big our God is, and that we are not a human being having a spiritual experience, we are a spirit having a human experience!
We look in the mirror and believe that we are seeing ourselves, but we are not! When we look in the mirror we only see a vessel which we inhabit.
Knowing who I truly am is a great benefit of my prayer life. In Genesis we are told God formed Adam from the dust of the earth and He breathed into him a living soul. We are told In Jeremiah that we were known by God before we were knitted together in the womb.
In Ecclesiastes we are told our body will return from the dust from where it came and our spirit will return to God from whence it came. You see, what we gaze at in the mirror is nothing more than a shell we inhabit for just a short time.
Knowing this is important! It puts things into a different perspective and gives us a foundation of understanding. I know, having talked with many Christians - mature and not so mature - that there is a lack of knowledge of the workings of prayer.
When we pray the whole of the Trinity is involved, our words are heard for sure, but more importantly our heart (spirit) is heard by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit groans our prayer in Heaven and Jesus then intercedes on our behalf to God the Father, and God answers our prayer.
Give that some thought, my true heart is known by the Holy Spirit (scared yet?) that is presented in Heaven through groaning, Christ pleads our case with the Creator, and the Creator answers.
I’ve heard Christians say they didn’t want to trouble God with trivial prayers, but in reality they are saying that somehow God is far, far away in their mind.
They can’t seem to realize that God is always present right here with us via the Holy Spirit. I believe God would be very pleased if we were all praying at once and always. We should have such an intimate relationship with God that we have conversations just as we would with our best earthly friend. Surely we can’t hide anything from Him so why not just talk to God about everything on our minds?
I hope this writing will help you in your prayer life and cause us all to pray much more often.
I pray that you all be blessed beyond measure, that you walk with God closely, and see the Glory of the workings of His hand. Amen
