Understanding
It seems that the majority of my Bible study leads me to a common subject.
God called men to share and spread His Word—some to a few, some to many, and some to nations. Is one more important than the other? NO, each is important, none taking precedence over another.
My duty at present is to a few and yours may be to many, but we know not what tomorrow brings. Tomorrow I may speak to a nation, and you can buy a few.
This is the calling of God and His mystery. Was Paul not a bondservant of our Lord? Paul spoke of his service with joy and duty—just imagine the multitudes that have heard the writings of Paul.
In Ezekiel 2 we read that God sent Ezekiel to the nation of Israel and called them rebellious, stubborn, and impudent! God tells Ezekiel to not be rebellious like the Israelites were but to speak to them.
Whether they hear or whether they refuse because they are a rebellious house, they would know a prophet was among them!
Now I do not have the knowledge nor would I dare to call myself a prophet, but do we not see the future through our study of God’s Word? Do we not understand the danger of not following the tenets of the will of our Father in Heaven?
So then are we not under the same directives as the prophets the words speaks of?
In verse 6 of chapter 2, God says, “and you, son of man, do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions; do NOT be afraid of their words or their looks, though they are a rebellious house.”
There is so much strength in this one verse and so much confidence and encouragement that a day could be spent just preaching or teaching the lessons of this single verse!
In verse 8 God says, “But you son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”
God feeds us exactly what He wishes us to consume. Hmmm, it seems I’ve read this before in Revelations. (If we are His)
In verse 9, Ezekiel stated that when he looked, a Hand was stretched out before him and he beheld a scroll with writing front and back.
Well, we were not handed scrolls but we were drawn to the compilation of scrolls bound into a book (the Bible), and that is where we are given the words that we are told to speak to this rebellious house we find ourselves in.
I started my study of Ezekiel this morning and it immediately became apparent why I have been drawn to this study! Ezekiel was a prophet sent by God to deliver a message.
A prophet’s message is always a telling of what is coming. When God sends a prophet, the people have gone far past hearing the preacher or the teacher. They have, in fact, failed to listen and turned away from the teachings.
If you look closely at what has been going on in this world over the past few years, it isn’t hard to see the workings of the end times occurring right before our eyes.
I was discussing the status of the world with a friend recently and was asked what I thought. My response was, “if this happens like it did in the Old Testament, then I am waiting on God to send a prophet before it gets much worse.”
Honestly, I’m not sure this will happen like that since, through the Bible, we have been given a good insight into what will occur in the coming Tribulation time.
We may not get a prophet to warn and foretell at all. What then? First and foremost, we must be well-versed in God’s Word and the understanding of it.
We must be secure in our faith and remain vigilant in our belief of our own victory through Jesus Christ. If we read the end times, then we can gain understanding of just what might be happening.
In a conversation I had with a Pastor not long ago, he made the statement of how fortunate we are to be watching the Scripture played out before our very eyes.
I lack enough understanding of myself to say one way or the other whether God will send a Prophet or not. What I do know is in the Scripture, when a prophet was needed, then action from God soon followed and in a way that was undeniable!
I feel we are in a time that warrants a prophet, but as a man, I have no Idea just how bad things can get nor do I know the thoughts of God’s judgment.
We were given the cure, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways. Then I will hear from Heaven and I will heal their Land.”
My prayers and encouragement for you I lift up daily to the one True God.
May you be blessed in your studies and throughout your days in everything.
In the name of our Savior Jesus, I pray.
Amen
